No matter how
old they are, kids of all ages love sugar cookies.
The great thing about these is that they can be
cut to any shape you want and decorated ( kids
love to decorate thier own cookies).
We have parties
around the holidays to make Halloween and Christmas
cookies and let the children help to cut out the sugar cookie
shapes and decorate them with thier favorite color
icings or sprinkles.
You can even decorate Christmas
cookies by painting them with food coloring or royal icing and
make decorations for the Christmas tree from them!
Sugar Cookie Ingredients:
2 cups margarine or butter
2 1/4 cups sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
6 cups flour
3/4 tsp. salt
4 Tbsp. milk
Cream the butter and sugar together
until smooth. Add Eggs one at a time and mix well.
Add Vanilla and milk until combined. Slowly add flour
and salt until mixed.
Divide dough in half or quarters and chill
1 hour.
Roll out dough 1/8 to 1/4 inch
thick. Cut shapes using cookie cutters. Place shapes
on greased cookie sheet and Bake at 375 degrees
Fahrenheit/190 degress Celsius for about 12 minutes.
Depending on the holiday ( these sugar
cookie treats are always a big hit at halloween or
Christmas) decorate with frosting and colored sprinkles.
