Welcome to the Favorite Fall
Recipes edition of the My Family Kitchen Newsletter.
First I'd like to appologize for
last weeks newsletter. I was so tired I hit send without checking
the layout first and it was way off and dificult to read. I'll
do my best to make sure it doesn't happen again.
I also noticed that I sent
the wrong link to our Cookbook, "Celebrate
Food!". That page had the price listed at $19.95,
but our mailing list members were supposed to get it at the discounted
price of $15.95. If you haven't checked it out yet you
can take a look at the list of recipes included in the cookbook. As
a side note, don't expect to find many of the recipes from the
cookbook on the website. These are all unique, vintage family recipes
that i grew up with, along with a few of my own recipes thrown
in.
Fall is a wonderful time of year.
With the crispness of the air, the colors on the trees and fresh
harvests it just seem to be the perfect time for cooking (kind
of like spring and romance!). I'm going to start with a dessert
recipe just because I love the smell of baking apples in the fall.
This easy to make caramel
apple tart is one of our favorites. The aroma of
fresh cinnamon and the sweetness of the brown sugar caramelizing
over the tart apples smells so good you won't want to wait to dig
in! Get the caramel
apple tart Here.
Next is a vintage side dish. I
found this recipe when I was going through old family cookbooks
and recipe boxes. I had forgotten about it, but it's one my Grandmother
made often when we were growing up. This Potato with bacon casserole
goes well with almost any oven baked chicken, pork or beef roast.
Get the recipe for Potato
and Bacon Casserole here.
Harvest
Pumpkin is another favorite. I only recieved this recipe
last year, but it dates back to colonial days. It's one of
the few recipes in the Celebrate Food! cookbook you will find on the website. This calls for stuffing
a pumpkin with fresh fruits, nuts and some spices and baking
it in the oven. (originally it was placed by an open fire to
cook- maybe i'll try that one day!) Get the recipe for Harvest
Pumpkin here and make one for your next potluck dinner.
It's sure to be the hit of the night.
Finally our last recipe this week
is one we recieved from a member. Tatie
Pot is an old English recipe that is fantastic for fall and
a great way to use up any leftover roast beef. Get the recipes
for the simple and tasty family meal Tatie
Pot here.
Don't forget that the holidays are
right around the corner and coming up fast.
Get a jump on your
holiday shopping with the special deals going on now at Cooking.com

For the beer lover in your
life the perfect gift this year would be to get them thier own
beer making kit! I've been making my own homebrew for years and
the only place I get my supplies is from Mr. Beer and right now
they are offering special discounts and free shipping on select
items for the holidays. Check out the beer
kits here.
If
you have a family favorite recipe you would like to
see featured on our "recipe
of the week"
section, please send
it to us. We will try all submitted Recipes and post our favorite.
