The Dirty martini gets its name from the fact that it looks "dirty". A traditional martini is made with gin and dry vermouth, both of which are clear liquors. a dirty martini has a dash of sweet vermouth which is dark.
Dry Martini
Fill a shaker cup with ice. add the vermouth and stir. add gin and stir again. strain into martini glass and garnish. (most dirty martinis are garnished with lemon peel)
