Easy Cubed Steaks & Mushroom Gravy

This easy cubed steak recipe is one we make often. What I really like about it is that you can use a variety of meat cuts such as cubed steaks, pork chops or country style spare ribs for this dish. This makes it a great weekly menu item for the family as you can buy whatever happens to be on sale that week so it doesn't hurt your food budget. The sauce the cubed steak is cooked in makes an excellet gravy for mashed potatoes.

Saucy Cubed Steaks

• 4 cubed steaks, pork steaks or chops
• 1 large onion, sliced and separated in rings
• 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
• 1 can cream of mushroom soup
• 1 small can sliced mushrooms, drained
• 1/4 cup dry white wine
• salt and pepper to taste

Heat the oil in a large skillet and brown the onions and meat ensuring both sides of meat are browned. Drain off excess fat and add the soup, mushrooms and white wine. Season with salt and pepper and simmer covered for 20-25 minutes or until meat is tender.
