Beets with Orange Sauce
This recipe for Beets in an orange sauce comes from our classic Vintange recipe collection. Beets make a great side dish for any Valentine's Day dinner. With their red color and the sweetness of the beets and orange sauce, they match perfectly with the theme of the Valentine's holiday.

For this Valentine's recipe I prefer to use fresh beets when I can get them, but canned are ok, just make sure you drain them well.

Beets in Orange Sauce Side Dish
- 2 Tbs. Butter
- 2 Tbs. flour
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 1/2 Tsp grated ornage rind
- 3/4 cup orange juice
- 1/4 Tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 2 tsp sugar
- 3 1/2 cups cooked beets, sliced
Melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and slowly add the water. Add orange rind, juice salt, pepper and sugar. Cook unitl smooth and thickened, stiring constantly. Add beets and cook just until beets are heated through.
